Hi all

I am a newbie. Have been using Mint for a while. It's the best distro that i have ever used. I done a fresh install of Darnya. When i go to synaptic to reload the repo's / update i get an error message. Is there a problem with the repo's or is it something that i am doing wrong????

I look forward to anyone's help.

Hi Azza,

There's no problem with the repositories (at the moment anyway). Can you paste the error message you get?

Try to open a terminal and type:

Code: Select all: apt update

You shouldn't get 404 errors, the links you gave point to existing resources...

Try to update your sources.list file first.

Code: Select all: $ sudo aptitude update

Let me know if the errors still occur.

It seems that i only get errors when the Ubuntu repos are enabled in synaptic. Below is the error i know get.

Could not download all repository indexes

The repository might be no longer available or could not be contacted because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your network connection and the correct writing of the repository address in the preferences.

An error occured

The following details are provided:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the list directory

From my limited knowledge i need the Ubuntu repos enabled to increase my applications.
Also i cant install from the software portal.

Need Help???

Hello

I have problem with installing program,updating OS and many others but my network and sound is working

Whene i write
