Hi! Panel help, please

Hi just installed my copy of Mint, and I must say I am excited. Many thanks to the developers.
I have a question I hope someone can help me with. I like to use the transparent panel feature, however certain icons and the notification center, and the window list center draw their own non-transparent border or box...this kind of takes away from the transparency. I have migrated from Gutsy Gibbon and did not have this effect on the panel previously.
Could anyone tell me if there is a configuration file or something I can edit to solve this issue? I have included a screenshot. You can see what I mean...around "geyes" for example...or even the trash bin.

this depends on the themes that you use and there color and settings and also the background used.

Go to control center, choose appearance preferences, select customize.
then under controls try mist! it makes everything transparent exept your
window list when open.
