I don't know why I lost the bottom task bar panel. I killed nautilus, hoping to restore, but no-good, I think it may be an additional problem. Any help?...Thanks

Code: Select all

killall gnome-panel
Hopefully, gnome-panel will automatically reload by itself. If it doesn't, let's just restore all Gconf settings back to default. Note that this will change your background, themes, icon sets, and various gconf preferences and Gnome settings back to default.

Code: Select all

mv .gconf .gconf-old
(And then logout, and log back in.)

vincent
thank you ..I'll try that.

... OK I tried that;no success. So I reinstalled 'gnome-panel' at synaptic repository. Rebooted, and everything came back. I had to adjust the desktop to my liking. I wasn't sure what application did that.
Thank you for your help............
