Live CD Won't work

Postby cnico88 on Fri Nov 23, 2007 12:19 am

Downloaded MInt Live CD from the official site via a torrent. Burned it on the CD and booted it. It runs normal, loads everything ok but then I am left with the wallpaper and nothing else, no menu bar, no clock, no icons, nothing. I have burned many Ubuntu Live CDs before and know how the process should work. Please help, I really want to try Mint because I didn't like Ubuntu at all. Thanks

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

How do I check the md5 from the CD? Or can I do it form Windows? I am pretty sure the burning was not a problem, burned at 48x this computer is brand new built last month and like I said I burned lots of Uuntu ISOs and not a single one was faulty so I doubt that.

To check md5 in windows I think you need third party software. here's a link to one I found with google:
http://www.fastsum.com/

I dont know how good it is becouse I don't use windows!

like boo, I would also recommend burning as slow as possible.
it may be worth a try :D

checksums came out clean. Like I said, I felt that the burn was good already. Any other suggestions?
