Which laptop do you have?
I don't trust hibernate and suspend - but they are useful for laptops - and my knowledge of Vista is zero.
But I think the keyboard problem is not unexpected.

Hi

Have you tried going into Bios and "Disable USB Keyboard", if it is there, and also "Disable USB legacy devices"

Also disconnect any USB devices you are not using at boot.
