New install network problems

Post by Sunde »

I have tried installing Linux ubuntu in the past, however; I've always had a hard time getting the Internet to connect wirelessly and I eventually gave up and moved back to windows. Ive been recommended to try mint, i installed t, and once again, no wireless connection.

I'm fairly new to Linux stuff and it tends to confuse me. I would love some help, however; I'm not sure what information I need to provide.

If this is helpful, here is what I get when I run lspci

Code: Select all

Are we to guess on your stuff ? . . . . pls use your mouse to highlight, copy, and paste back here in a reply, the complete output from these three terminal commands. (pls, for an easier read, and to save space, paste the output inside Code tags (as you have done above) when you reply)
Open your Terminal program, type " sudo mintwifi " , (enter->password (which won't show) . . then : " sudo lshw -C network " (enter), and finally, for info on your personal setup / system, that you should have volunteered / provided us in your first posting ; " inxi -Fulpov5 "

Re: New install network problems

"inxi -Fulpov5"

Just for information, the -v [number] option shows nothing that -F does not show, it was just a legacy thing we included to keep the old syntax from the script it was forked from working.

I've now and then thought about expanding the -v, but objectively, it's easier to just call the lines you want, like -Fn

-F calls all the upper case lines, if I remember right, like -I, -S, -A, -G, -C, -D, -P, plus -s for sensors.

It does not call -p, -n, -f, -r, -i, -o, -pl, -po, -t, to avoid spamming irc channels too much.

I should probably remove mention of the -v options from the -help menu, or update them to make them show more and more stuff. I lean towards removing it, because it really was just something we carried over from the earlier script versions to make users not have to learn too many new things. But in no case is there any point to using the -v options with other options in my opinion.
