Jumpy while scrolling around some websites

Postby andyvr4 on Sun Dec 09, 2007 5:21 pm

Hi,

I was wondering if anybody know why firefox might would get really jumpy when scrolling around some website. A couple that I've noticed being the biggest problem are http://www.hokiesports.com and http://www.nascar.com.

This is with using firefox 2.0.0.10 and a fresh install (less than 2 days old) of linuxmint Daryna.

Thanks,
Andy

Alright I just followed those instructions with creating a brand new profile with no extensions or add-ins and I'm still having the same problems. I'll ask over on the firefox forum.

Thanks,
Andy

If anybody is following this thread, I've narrowed the problem down to javascript, but I'm not sure how to fix the problem. If I disable javascript the browser starts responding correctly, however a lot of the features don't work on many sites that I go to because they rely on javascript. For right now I figure I'm just going to half to wait for a newer version and hope that they fix the problems.

That's interesting because it definitely made a difference for me. Maybe something has gotten messed up with my java install. Do you know of a simple way to reinstall this, or is it integrated into firefox.

Ive noticed this as well in firefox. But on more than one distro and ive been noticing myself that flash seems to have a big impact on this with my system and im on a dual core.If you have a fair amount of tabs open and some of those have flash, then that could be an issue as well.Blocking flash until you click could solve that problem maybe.Thought id chime in

Cool, how do you setup flash to be blocked until you click on it.

One way of doing it is with noscript - it blocks flash as well so if you only allow flash temporarily for a site it's blocked until you allow it
You understand this a bit better once you've installed and I think it's something every browser should have
