problems installing grub after windows

Postby ricky on Sat Jan 26, 2008 7:53 pm

i run into the problem when i hit the second command.

grub> root (hd0,0)

grub> setup (hd0)

Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition

grub>

it's the right partition, i think that the reason is that it's up for 23 mounts check.
i stupidly installed windows without doing that check. is there a workaround or something?

thanks

From below it looks like it either can not find bootloader on hda1 or the hda drive.
What partition do you get if you run the following from the Grub prompt?
Code: Select all
grub> find /boot/grub/stage1

The response from this command should be used in your root command.
