I just downloaded and installed Mint 12. Now I cannot find the trash can.

Re: SOLVED - Where is the trash can?
and? Please fill in the rest of us who are missing a trash can.
I understand I can find it in the FIle Manager, but what about having it on the desktop? What about adding *anything* to the desktop?

Re: SOLVED - Where is the trash can?
in Gnome session : click advanced setting (gnome3 tweak tool) >desktop click to on trash icon visible on desktop
Cinnamon : same like GNOME, you can find advanced setting from menu>other
MATE : control center > desktop , you will see trash can be show in desktop

Re: SOLVED - Where is the trash can?
There is also another way.
From the menu, go to Cinnamon Settings, then Applets.
Scroll down and click Trash can. This puts an icon on the panel.
You can now right-click the icon to either open Trash in a window or empty it.
Hope this helps. Screenshots attached.

Re: SOLVED - Where is the trash can?
I get this weird error... where some days I have no trash can on my desktop, and other days I do.
I have it checked in system settings too. Also when I am getting the no trash can bug I can't turn computer or home on or off. Anyone ever had this? I get it across multiple installs.

found the solution here https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues/1235

nautilus and nemo are both autostarted at login (sometimes they KO each [other]).
You don't need to remove nautilus, all you need is to stop it autostarting at log in... delete the startup file
Code: Select all
sudo rm /etc/xdg/autostart/nautilus-autostart.desktop
Re: SOLVED - Where is the trash can?
The Trash is in ~/.local/share/Trash
The icon in Applets does not respond to being clicked on, so it is not useful.
What is the best way to get the Trashcan on the desktop?
