The beta versions are :
- different desktop as Gnome (KDE, XFCE or FLUXBOX)
- not the final release
If it is new for you it is better to stay with main edition

Not sure what you are asking for, though the Main edition comes with GNOME and common codecs, the CE comes with different desktop environments, XFCE, KDE, Fluxbox, and the light edition comes without patented codecs. I would just stay with main edition, but if you prefer KDE or other DE go for it..
