GUI login

Postby Michel on Sat Feb 02, 2008 10:04 am

Hi everyone and thanks again for the slickest distro around. A friend of mine asked me if there is a way to disable or
bypass the GUI login with the splash screen in order to see the prompt and the loading process, either with a key combo or with a tweak to a config file.
Thanks

What do you want? An automated login or a text based login? As for automated, I do not think this is possible or recommended, linux is very password aware, and you have to set a password in order to use it properly.

Let me rephrase that. Basically what my friend and I want is to see the load process in action before the login. Essentially, instead of the Mint progress bar, a text prompt progress like the one in some distros like Knoppix for instance.
Thanks
