How to install new font

I just want to know how to install a new true type font to use in OO in order to edit a file with that font. Actually it is in Hindi. I am from India.

As root, you can copy your fonts into /usr/share/fonts, then
$mkfontdir
$fc-cache
$mkfontdir
$fc-cache
