wireless works perfect in 4.0 but...

Postby dylan1055 on Fri Feb 08, 2008 10:09 pm

ok so I downloaded the latest distro 4.0 burnt it to cd and hit reboot

sweet every thing worked perfect.
I clicked on the network icon selected from 1 of 3 wireless networks , put in my key etc and surfed the net.

I then chose to install linux mint 4.0 to my hard drive. that went ok, (no errors)
I click on the network icon and cant see any wireless networks. confused?
reboot 3 times, and no luck.
just cant see any networks to connect to . but it works first time when booting from a live distro

Can you supply details of hardware? I have seen this happen on a Toshiba laptop with the Atheros wireless.
Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once.

Yes, post the output of
Code: Select all
lspci

and maybe
Code: Select all
lsmod

as well. Use copy paste, so we won't get any typos :)

After a bit of googling, I came to the conclusion you should look at it yourself, it seems like a troublesome device in Gutsy. Take a look at the google hits, it seems like it got several ways of getting it to work, or none at all, I am not sure...
