WLAN PCMIA Card Laptop

Postby preatoria on Sat Feb 09, 2008 12:39 pm

Dear Mint users,

I got another newbie Question coming from my side.
Is it possible to install a Wlan card in your laptop like in windows ? Plug and Play ? Or do you have to have specific drivers ? Or other stuff that is important for that.
Since i am a newbie (Damn i say that a lot on this forum :( ), i would like to have as much info as possible on how to set something like that up. I did not insert the card during the install of mint. Might that be a problem ? Or should i reinstall ? Or what do you suggest?

Thanks in advance ;)

Preatoria.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

The problem you may have is wifi not insertion. Linux is plug and play
Just put it in and see what happens. The most likely scenario is that it just works
If not take a look at the wiki

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

In most cases, if it is supported it is plug and play, if not you might have to download firmware/driver, at worst compile. Or it is not supported, and you do not have a chance in .... to get it working ;)
Ohh, and windows is plug and pray, not play...
