I have Daryna installed on my XPS M170 and my sound isn't working properly. The subwoofers aren't being controlled by the volume button on the front of the machine. Only the front speakers are. The subwoofers are being controlled by the volume on whatever application is running. Has anyone else had this problem and how can I get all speakers to be controlled by the volume button on the front of the machine?
The front of the laptop has a mute, volume up, volume down, play/pause, back track, forward track, and one other button but I have never used it so I can't remember what it's for. I haven't installed any other distribution of Linux on it so I don't know if the problem would be present in any other or not.
That's a sound card I'm not familiar with. This is an increasing problem - you have a knob of sorts on your lappy and turn it or plug in headphones and nothing happens, because it's some software controlled hardware... This can drive you nuts
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
