Really Noob... wireless issue

OK, so just installed Daryna...have NO experience with Linux, pure windows user. I am using a Linksys USB WUSB56G wireless adapter and Verizon FIOS router. I got to the point where the computer recognizes the Linksys, but when attempting to connect to my wireless router, it won't accept the WEP key (yes, I'm sure I have the right key)...and this is using the network icon in task bar. I've attempted a manual configuration, didn't work either. My router sees the computer, but says it's "inactive."

Any suggestions? keep in mind, I don't know any commands...yet.. ;(

Try to connect without any encryption and see if you have success
Then we can take it from there

I think the Linksys WUSB family is Linux friendly - at least the 54G works well

Turned off encryption and still wasn't able to connect... Followed Wiki, still no help. I tried to configure wireless through command line, DHCP client says "no DHCP offers recieved. Not sure what to try next.

Most of the posts I read about the Linksys and Mint are people not able to get the USB device recognized by the system or finding a network. Mine is recognized and finds all kinds of wireless networks, but just cant attach to them...frustrating, especially when all my windows boxes are fine. I have a lot to learn with this Linux stuff...!

Exactly - that's why they post here - most wusb_something just connects....
There is something called "Roaming mode"
Uncheck that and see what happens, sometimes it's the only way to connect to your own network - sometimes the opposite is true.....

Yeah Linux takes some learning (depending on your hardware) but once you learn what there is to learn it opens up an entirely new world to you.
