I hate to be rude, but uh....please use some non-smiley punctuation. That was really quite difficult to read :( For anyone wondering, he switched off of Ubuntu at some point, and cleaned his laptop out. He reapplied thermal paste to the heatsinks and how the computer is freezing.

Did Mint work with your laptop before you disassembled it? Does Ubuntu or another distro still work on it?

Does it just freeze, or does it crash to a black screen? If it's frozen, can you switch terminals with CTRL+ALT+F1? If the keyboard has lights for capslock or scrolllock, do they light up when you press them?

Have you tried just booting without the graphical user interface? What happens if you switch to the terminal not xterm from the GUI? Does it still remain frozen? Is there excessive heat being emitted? Had a similar problem with a computer I was working on and the heat was not dissipating fast enough and it would continuously freeze. You could give lm-sensors at http://www.lm-sensors.org/ a go.

If you press CTRL+ALT+F1, does it go to a terminal screen? If you have a capslock light, does it turn on and off when you press it?

Do you have a LiveCD? If you do, what happens when running the LiveCD? Does it freeze as well?
