How do I install LMMS?

Hi all. Here goes....

First time Linux user. Boy's laptop running Vista not connecting to internet. Read which is the "best" release and settled on Mint 14 with Mate. Installed okay, connected to the internet and all looks good and appears to be working. Downloaded and installed all updates.

Acer Laptop, 32-bit installation

The lads use FLStudio on Windows, so found the Linux equivalent, LMMS. Can see it in both Software and Package managers and go through the installation procedure. It finishes by saying it is installed but I can't find it in the program lists from the Menu. In fact I've tried marking for re-installation and is says it is installed but I can't find it anywhere.

Am I missing something? Can anyone give me some useful troubleshooting steps pls?

Hi again. The new title of this post might be a bit confusing.

My problem was actually how to put the app on the menu launcher in Mate. I assumed that installing a program would automatically put a link on the menu.

Anyway, I found a similar post in this forum, and followed the instructions on how to edit the menu and add a new item. It now works fine so this can be closed. Thanks.

I'd check your menu again to be sure; in my Cinnamon edition of Mint, it's labelled as "Linux Multimedia Studio", as against "LMMS". Otherwise, does it start when you run the command "lmms" from the terminal?

Hopefully it's something simple like that, before you go editing menus and such. Good luck.
