Problem after adding new hdd

hi,

after succesful installation on hdd, when i add a second hdd to my system, the boot sequence freezes for a while and then drops to command line saying (initramfs)

how can i boot normally?

I guess you've ended up in UUID hell

So change your present disk to sda and add/change the new to sdb and I think you're good to go

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem, I installed Mint onto an IDE drive, all worked well, I then hooked up my other three SATA drives, and now I can't boot up until I pull the SATA cables from my computer.

This is my first dabble with linux, so I am a real NOOB here, I understand the answer above but just dont know how to change the drive names around, anyone care to tell me how to do this.

The solution is found in the UUID wiki if your disks are found in fstab
If the new disks are not in fstab check the forum for mounting disks or post back
