Installing Software, am I missing something? SOLVED

I am trying to install Dr Java, a light weight development tool and JDK 5.0 update 14. I can download both, but I am completely at a loss as how to install them. Just a point of information, the drjava file is a .jar file, if that changes anything.

That did the trick, and I found the JDK 5.0 in synaptic. Much obliged!

However, getting Dr Java to function properly was much more of a grueling task. I had to point it to the tools.jar file that was downloaded with JDK 5.0 manualy and typing java -jar into was not enough it turns out. This would open DrJava with Java 6.0 and that created all kind of trouble. I had to right click on the icon on my desktop, then select to open with Java 5.0 and then everything worked properly. A little more work than I had anticipated, but I learned quite a bit in the process.
