Softwares Wally and Wallch does not work

Hi,

I'm running Linux Mint 12 LXDE, 32 bit, Gnome 2.32.1.

I want desktop wallpaper to change automatically. Tried installing wally and wallch. Both are not working.
With wallch I get the message that the wallpaper has changed, but the wallpaper doesn't change. Is something blocking the change signal from these programs?
Right now I have installed only wallch.

I installed LXDE from software manager and wallch still does not work. Someone please help. Or direct me to a place from where I can get a solution.

Once I press Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, I can choose the from LXDE-Mint, LXDE and default. Choosing LXDE gives a cool environment with filemanager similar to Windows. But, if i type gnome-about version in terminal, I get a pop up saying Gnome 2.32.1.. What's happening?

I've tried Wally also. Doesn't work.

Now on LXDE, even Ctrl+Alt+Backspace doesn't work.
I installed xfce4 from software manager to see if it works, but can't even login when xfce is running. Once I select xfce from Desktop in login window and type username + password, the login window keeps coming back. Weird!

Current latest versions of this ppa are:
32-bit:
https://launchpad.net/~wallch/+archive/ ... 1_i386.deb
64-bit:
https://launchpad.net/~wallch/+archive/ ... _amd64.deb

Have tried both of these and they do work with Mate.
