Operation of Mint network connections solved

Postby Cambo105 on Tue Feb 26, 2008 10:34 pm

I seem to experiencing some flakiness or just improperly going about connecting to the internet. If I boot with my ethernet cable attached my internet works fine, and if I disconnect that and switch to wireless, that also works fine. However it is impossible to switch back to a wired connection after disconnecting and using a wireless connection. Is there a reason for this, and is there any way to reconnect with out restarting my computer?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I don't know a reason for it and it should be easily fixed with
Code: Select all
sudo /etc/init.d networking restart

//Edit/ typo above fixed - there must be a space before restart//
but for some reason this does not work in Daryna as it did in earlier versions
The (temporary) fix is instead right click Network manager and untick "Activate Network"
Right click again and this time do the opposite - tick "Activate Network"
If that does not work you'll unfortunately have to reboot

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

I entered that into the terminal and I got "command not found"

Any more suggestions.

However, the temporary fix works like a charm.

Does any one know the underlying cause of the peculiar behavior?

And Husse, thank you for you help.
