drop down menus disappear on firefox

I've got this issue. When in firefox, i open a menu w/ a drop down menu & when i try to highlight the sub-menus-as soon as my pointer moves, the menu disappears. Sometimes restarting Firefox fixes it temporarily. I also notice that some of the drop down menus from the panel are initially invisible and only appear when mousing over them line by line. Not sure if the bugs are related. Using LMDE/MATE and FF11/12.

edit: I find that I can fix the FF dropdown menus (eg. folders in my bookmark toolbar) by clicking on a dropdown menu in the desktop panel, such as radiotray or dropbox. The issue is a recurring one.

I'm still having this intermittent problem. My dropdown bookmark folders in Firefox, or the main Firefox menu itself, upon attempting to hover on the menu will disappear and will therefore not allow me to select any options. I can 'reset' this behavior to normal by opening a dropdown menu in the main panel such as my dropbox icon. Only then can I return to firefox and use my bookmark toolbar folders.

I have not been able to determine what causes this behavior to begin, as I can browse for hours without issue; then this problem shows up.

Would love to know if this is a setting I need to change or if not, how to report this as a bug. I believe someone had the same issue on the Mint 12 or 13 edition as well.

I am running LMDE with xfce and I have the same problem with Firefox. I found I can restore the drop down menu functionality just by minimizing Firefox and then restoring the window. I can't tell what triggers it either. It just starts to misbehave.
