You mean the progress in install I supposefile transfer stopped at around 94-98%
I have a feeling I know what happened
Do you have a complicated partition structure - that is lots of partitions?
Did you use guided partitioning?
If yes on both questions install failed when it was to install grub - this is a nasty and well known (at least for us) bug in Ubiquity (the installer)
If you boot the live CD and use Gparted to create partitions before you install and then manual partitioning so you can install in the partitions you created I think it will work (you select mount point by "Edit" for the partition - a minimum of root / and swap)
Mint installs nicely in a logical partition
