Help !, need to install Bea on Core duo Laptop

Hi Folks,
i'm always stucking in installing ubuntu-based distros on my laptop,
1st i get the PCI allocation errors, but no big deal about it .
then i get the bug in processor #0 , does Mint Bea support Core duo T2050 processor (Centrino)??, please note the deactivating a core in not an option , my Compaq presario (c300 series) does not have this option !

please note that the only distro that worked with me is Mandriva 2007 , many packages are out-dated in both officiall and non-official mandriva servers , some doesnot exist ,others does not work as expected !!(((ubuntu repository is a breaze)))

I have a hp Pavilion dv2108ea with the same CPU's and I don't have this problem.... did you Google around? Maybe there is something special about your BIOS that does not work so well with Ubuntu. There is always the possibility to add boot parameters so that you can inform the Linux kernel about special hardware or other circumstances ...

thanks for the reply, actually my firmware may be the same as yours !, i think its all about adding those parmeters when booting, do you have any idea, or can you point me to any one ?

for reference, my main board is hp ,model:30C6, the bios is apdated to F 14 (the latest)

The specs look very similar to my Pavilion dv2108ea!

The only difference I can see is that my dv2108ea has a LightScribe drive and a different Intel WiFi chipset, but that's more or less it.

so bianca was just installed smoothly without passing any parameters to kernal on booting ?

BTW, I use openSUSE 10.2 on that Laptop ... did you try that? They have a Live DVD too ....

I used Mint in live CD mode only on that particular machine but I never had the crash you had. My Mint installation is on a P4 desktop machine, not on this particular laptop.

Suse 10.2 looks like a good alternative, do you find any problems in getting up-to-date packages ? kernel updates, web servers database engines ...etc ?

I suggest you learn how to use SUSE's "smart" package manager. Its functions are similar to "apt-get" (e.g. instead of "apt-get install package" => "smart install package") or "synaptic" (instead of "synaptic" you'd type "smart --gui"). And where "apt" needs a "sources.list" (usually to be found here: /etc/apt/sources.list) SUSE's "smart" needs a "channel list", so it knows where on the Internet it can find all the software one might want or need. There are some good channel lists and tutorials about all this stuff here (some of the lists shown here might be buggy though; if that happens to be the case I suggest you make a post in the relevant SUSE forums):

But what I really wanted to suggest is this: For the purpose of troubleshooting, can you please try out the SUSE Live DVD? Just to check if it would boot at all? Because if this one also doesn't boot then I think it's your laptop's fault .... But if SUSE boots and Ubuntu and Mint don't then it's something in the setups of the Ubuntu / Mint kernel. We have to exclude possibilities here and do some troubleshooting ...
