[Fixed] With no sound in an Asus Eee 900

Post by Sanva »

Hi!

I have installed Linux Mint in an Asus Eee 900 and I have followed the instructions in http://www.hnkweb.com/2008/05/16/instal ... ee-pc-900/ to try to fix some of the problems that I have with this installation… but I have not been successful –I suppose that Linux Mint is no so like to Ubuntu that I thought… or I did something wrong (or the article I followed doesn't work…)–.

One of those problems is with the sound. I have no sound, and I don't know what can I do to fix it… Everything is OK in Volume Control (I have all channels at maximum and no one is muted).

I also have installed an Eee-version of the Kernel (http://array.org/ubuntu/), but nothing happens (related to sound, it fixed other problems).

What could I do to fix the problem?? Any idea?

Thanks for your time.

I know for sure people are running Mint on the Eee...
The hardware is a bit special, but not all that strange
You could post your lspci, maybe that gives some idea

It's ICH6 - rather outdated hardware! Surprising - the standard solutions I have up my sleeve won't work I'm afraid Have to think of it
Search the forum for Asus Eee in the meantime

According to the gentoo wiki about the Eee
The alsa drivers with kernel 2.6.24 will not work, you must disable them and use the alsa-driver package at least 1.0.16 this works.
However Elyssa has 1.0.16 so it should work
Perhaps the solution is here (the auto option)
