I was at a wedding this weekend and some guy told me about the "Irish Flag":
- Creme de Menthe
- Baileys
- Cointreau

I kinda thought "there surely is better ways to use the Menthe...".

Diabolo Menthe is simply mint syrup and white lemonade mixed with ice cubes.

The mix mint/baileys seems odd at best... and I don't know about adding cointreau - but sometimes yet get nicely surprised...?

Well if I was to mix Baileys and Cointreau in a glass I wouldn't add Creme de Menthe to it, I would add Kahlua..

In fairness, I haven't tried it though.

Oh well, the Irish are a bit weird you see? But I guess with enough Guiness and Kilkeny beer before and after that "Irish Flag" drink, enough pub music and a bit of dancing you won't care anymore what the taste is ... you won't notice

The recipe I saw on the internet called for Grand Marnier instead of the Cointreau.

Get it backwards and you have an Ivory Coast flag!

I don't understand the difference between a "Black & Tan" and a "Half & Half". I think one is Guinness and Harp and the other Guinness and Newcastle, but I'm not sure. Can anyone shed some light on this problem (being that it's close to St. Paddy's day and all)?

I'm one to try just about anything, however, the Irish flag drink, would be something I would prefer to "view" as apposed consumption.

Edit. I see that the list is growing below. But keep one thing in mind, that our Mint Café can't afford very expensive beverages, since our funds are limited.

Black and tan is Guinness and milder ale (most of the time I got Guinness and Smithwicks) - half and half is basically the same thing except I think actual Guinness is not a requisite and any bitter stout will do...

Of course, both halves Guinness is real nice too... Mmm, going to the fridge now.

STINGER MINT

Boisson de base: crème de menthe /vodka

Se prépare: au shaker
Se sert: dans un verre haut (tumbler)
Se boit: très frais
Éffets: désaltérant
Pour: les fêtes

Ingrédients:

1/3 crème de menthe blanche
1/3 crème de menthe verte
1/3 vodka

Verser les ingrédients dans le shaker avec quelques glaçons ,shaker.
Servir sur de la glace pilée.

Translation into English (if anyone doesn't understand French):

Base drink: Crème de Menthe and Vodka

Prepare it in a shaker.
Should be served in a high glass (tumbler).
Best if served ice cold.
Refreshing effect.
Best served on parties.

Ingrédients:

1/3 crème de menthe white
1/3 crème de menthe green
1/3 vodka

Put everything into the shaker with a bit of ice, and then shake!
Serve it with crash-ice.

Adding a little Votka makes the difference. Now we may include your recipe in our Addiction List.

Gentlemen,
Some new changes have taken place recently in The Mint Café.

- A new section called The CasaBianca Room was added.
- A Ladies Room was added to serve our female guests.
- The Men's Room facilities were expanded to serve our beer drinking friends as best as possible.
- The MintMenu was revised to include the recent Beverages suggested by our members.
- The AAA (Alcoholics Anonymous Assn.) agreed to establish a recruiting office in our premises.
They also provided their Chemical Department service, by testing all of our beverages and setting up the ADDICTION LIST.
Note: Although Bianca was very enthusiastic with Diabolo Menthe, unfortunately it did not meet with the approval of the AA.
However, to overcome this major drawback, it was suggested that we enrich it with 40% by volume of French Cognac or Kentucky Bourbon.

May I remind you again that Bianca is now providing her bartender services every night.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
All new members must provide an Addiction certificate by the AA!
Non-Addicted persons will be given a 30-day test period, before they are admitted to the club.
