most of the problems that were there so far have been ironed out... but i am working with merlwiz79 of Mint XFCE CE to add more features to the distro... and this means more testing and debugging so maybe a public beta maybe longer down the line than i expected... but i will continue working on it.
a major problem i had with firefox not recognizing file types has been sorted out as far as my testing can prove... the problem with the menu not recognizing language settings and menu icons still persists... and localization seems to be a major advancement and priority with Linux Mint Elyssa... which also means that I have to reach the Mint standard before I can release a public beta under the Mint brand... I completely understand this.
Since no one with python experience has come up to fix the issue with the menu... i have started building the menu app from scratch in bash scripts... since that is all i know. i must say that i have learned a lot about bash scripting while doing this. still i am convinced that what i have done so far is not as good as it can be... in bash or otherwise... for one, the bash scripts work much slower than python... but i have got it to detect the correct icons for all but a few applications... and localizations work well for different languages where translations are available... the scripts generate the menu structure correctly... in the respective languages...
i have yet to get it to generate the complete menu... and to get it to update the menu automatically when applications are installed or uninstalled... while dealing with a thing we call 'real life'
anyway... if i do not have the new menu ready, we might release a public beta with the old python menu and have the new one as an upgrade or reserve it for the next MintFB release.
Anyway, as time permits i tread along hopefully, trying to get this release out.
cheers.
