I would like to use hibernation since my computer is quite old and booting takes 1 min & 10 secs.
However I get an error message about there not being enough swap when I try it, and then the desktop returns.
I use a 8 gig ssd drive from Samsung, and have 1 gig Ram on the computer. Do I have to increase the swap? If so; how do I do this?

Re: swap/hibernation trouble
That's what you are toldDo I have to increase the swap?
You need a swap that is at least the size of your memory
There's not much space and it's a SSD disk but that does not change the basics
Open the partitioning manager (I think it is gparted in xfce) and change the size of the swap to at least one GB. If it already has that size don't do anything and post back, because then there is some other problem
Re: swap/hibernation trouble
Unfortunately the Lan card kicked the bucket so I'm going to have to scrap the computer. Thanks for your help though.
Re: swap/hibernation trouble
LAN card is the only problem? I'll take that computer off your hands. Replacing the LAN card should be cheap.
Re: swap/hibernation trouble
Ummm.... Did you see my sig about what kind of computer it is?
Not sure that it is easy to swap lan card on an old laptop.

Re: swap/hibernation trouble
Is there a pcmcia connector?
I think you could get a pcmcia wired or wireless for a bargain price

Re: swap/hibernation trouble
Nope.
It has four unreliable USB ports and a Firewire port which I haven't tried.
