new user with wifi issues :( *solved*

Post by OOHnirav »

I'm new to Linux, and having installed the Gnome edition and fixing up the Nvidia graphics card with Envy (just so you all know I'm not here without having even tried anything), I just haven't been able to get my wireless card working on this. I saw someone post a similar issue to mine, and someone asked him/her to type up lspci in the terminal and post his/her result.. So here's mine in advance:

03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)

When I click the network icon on the bottom right of the screen, I see "Wired Network", [line], Connect to 802.1x wired, and manual config. In case it matters, I'm using an HP dv9827cl.

I've tried to follow other threads with people sharing similar issues with their AR5007's, but nothing has worked for me so far. Help is greatly appreciated.

The website it linked me to told me to download this [http://snapshots.madwifi.org/madwifi-ha ... ent.tar.gz], which seems to be unavailable. Are there any other suggestions?

EDIT: Nevermind, I remained persistent in downloading the gz file, and it worked! Thanks!
