Re: Pls help with Fuji S700 photo download
I saw something about this just recently while looking for a solution for something else
I just can't remember what and where. I'll mark this and come back to you - unfortunately it may take a couple of days
I am surprised that you can't navigate to the camera with the file browser.
One solution that suddenly came to mind is to install testdisk (from Synaptic)
It includes photorec that does a great job in retrieving all kinds of files. It can manage even if the file system is damaged, so it may be capable of retrieving your photos

# udev rules file for libgphoto2 devices (for udev 0.98 version)
# Created from this library:
# libgphoto2 2.4.0 gcc, ltdl, EXIF
# libgphoto2_port 0.8.0 gcc, ltdl, USB, serial without locking
#
SUBSYSTEM!="usb_device", GOTO="libgphoto2_rules_end"
ACTION!="add", GOTO="libgphoto2_rules_end"
Thats what mine looks like under Mint 4 Daryna
may be of some help. You seem to have 1 too many = sign after SUBSYSTEM!

No I was not but thanks for reminding me of that topic, I've added it to a shortlist of solutions
Re: Pls help with Fuji S700 photo download
I've found a bit about your camera. It is a PTP camera* and
* You can find that out from http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digita ... index.html but you can of course not use the drivers on that page
So it seems you have to test a few applications .....
This is according to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/126733PTP cameras cannot be mounted like a hard disk, you have to use libgphoto (usually a frontend like gthumb, F-spot, or Kamera) to talk to it. Only cameras which provide an 'USB mass storage' interface can be mounted.
