How can I change the boxy-ness of KDE?

Postby OOHnirav on Tue Sep 30, 2008 6:27 am

Since the previous topic of this thread was never replied to, I figured I'd just reuse it rather than filling up the forum with more questions than I already have been. :P

I really like KDE5 for functionality, features, and smoothness, but I'm not a fan of the default look. The scroll bars on firefox and pidgin are too plain and simple, and the window style feels way too plain and boxy compared to Gnome (from which I switched). I managed to change up the mini/max/close buttons to my liking, but I can't seem to edit the scroll bar and other button appearances to look less flat.

I tried Emerald themes, but I couldn't get them to apply.

^ This is what I was going for. Can anyone help me out??? wysiwyg image

I have a feeling this is like asking "how can I make KDE not KDE"
All KDE I've seen (PCLOS unaccounted for - I don't remember) is sort of "boxy"
I've tried the themes in KDE CE and even if the impression varies I don't get rid of it

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
