Just an explanation. The information on this link works for any Mint Edition but there's a "Note for Xubuntu" that you can't bypass for XFCE CE. So, remember to install scim-bridge-client-gtk as it says or you won't be able to use scim on XFCE. It works for me. Also, some programs like amsn need a bit more to get scim input working on them.

Just do

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install language-support-input-ja language-support-fonts-ja
instead of

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install language-support-input-zh language-support-fonts-zh
It's essentially just a copy of the Ubuntu wiki, but anyway, it works!
