I just saw that - I hope you're discussing the VGA out, because if you want to use some S-video out I'm lostvideo out
You have the very common Mobile GM965/GL960 and there should be no problems with that

randr is a tool for this and a few other things
There is then Xrandr and Urandr which are Randr with a GUI
