Post by georgegerm »

does one need to install something extra other that the game with wine??
i notice the game runs a bit of tune, i get lucky if i get one i always get shoot..
now i am or was a good player theres a sort of lag there i cannot explain,,
as a reference its not the internet speed , i got 10,000-12,000 dsl and other that the game l.mint flies online with anything else
do i need to install an open source art direct x, ie. ( i do not know ) open gl or something of that nature. the game looks good otherwise.
my pc is lame but it supported the game under windows perfect, ie. no sort of slow shooting moments etc.
any ideas??

Ya that's the thing with wine, most things don't work perfectly. I would search google for "how to run the game you want on linux". For a popular game like that there will be discussions on it but I can't promise that it's possible. That's why I dual boot with WinXP.

I may make myself sound like Mr. Obvious here, but have you installed the restricted driver for your graphics card? I once saw a friend of mine playing it on Ubuntu Hardy without a glitch with GeForce 6600 GT and 1 Gig of system RAM. I don't play PC games, though, so I can't say more than that.

yes i have
this the one thing i really do not like about linux
GAMES
other than that perfect
some solution must be found in this direction, if one wants to stay away from dual booting, and having to use Windows
but till then they run but mostly not well
