[solved] ZTE mf622 internet not in all applications

Post by knightmaremx »

I got a ZTE mf622 modem from Telcel (Mexico)... My brother uses it withour problems in windows vista but I can just get it to work partially unde Mint 5,
I've read this thread http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... 622#p99395
and other info in ubuntu forums

My problem is that even after connecting through wvdial and getting an IP not all programs see the internet connection:
Firefox and emesene won't connect (I unmarked the "work offline" option in firefox).

but deluge torrent works perfectly without configuring anything, I also can connect to my work vpn through the console and access the servers.

If I try to ping http://www.google.com the ping command won't return results ...
gnome network manager shows there's no connection to internet

any idea to get the internet working on all applications?

My configuration is:
/etc/udev/rules.d/15-zte-mf622.rules

Code: Select all

ACTION!="add", GOTO="ZTE_End"
# Is this the ZeroCD device?
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idProduct}=="2000",
SYSFS{idVendor}=="19d2", GOTO="ZTE_ZeroCD"
# Is this the actual modem?
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idProduct}=="0001",
SYSFS{idVendor}=="19d2", GOTO="ZTE_Modem"
LABEL="ZTE_ZeroCD"
# This is the ZeroCD part of the card, remove
# the usb_storage kernel module so
# it does not get treated like a storage device
RUN+="/sbin/rmmod usb_storage"
LABEL="ZTE_Modem"
# This is the Modem part of the card, let's
# load usbserial with the correct vendor
# and product ID's so we get our usb serial devices
RUN+="/sbin/modprobe usbserial vendor=0x19d2 product=0x0001",
# Make users belonging to the dialout group
# able to use the usb serial devices.
MODE="660", GROUP="dialout"
LABEL="ZTE_End"
/etc/wvdial.conf

Code: Select all

[Dialer Defaults]
Init2 = ATZ
Init3 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Init5 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.itelcel.com"
Stupid Mode = 1
Modem Type = Analog Modem
ISDN = 0
Phone = *99#
Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
Username = webgprs
Password = webgprs2002
Dial Command = ATDT
Baud = 460800

thanks

Looks that you only have partial name resolution
But you can never ping http://www.google.com/
It must be ping www.google.com
Try

Code: Select all

ping -c 4 66.249.91.99
Should give you four results
If so solution hopefully here
