drivers for dazzle, dvr 100
I've done a Google search without much success, I was hoping someone here has one and got it working. I've been using it in XP and it works real good at ripping old VHS tapes to my hard drive. I'm running Mint 5 KDE right now and would like to get away from booting into windows just to use this neat little device.

I have not even found out what this is.....
Can you use Wine?

Re: drivers for dazzle, dvr 100
It's a USB video capture device. I've been using it in windows to convert old VHS tapes to DVD. It doesn't look like there's any support for it in Linux yet. I was hoping someone in Linux land had found a way to get it working. No I haven't tried Wine, wouldn't know where to start.

Sorry, I forgot to login with my reply. It's a Dazzle dvc 100, not a dvr 100.
Re: drivers for dazzle, dvr 100
OK I've found out a few things
According to this there is to be support in 2.6.25 (at least 64 bit)
If that is not for a specific Debian kernel and does not disappear quickly there should be support in 2.6.27 which is the kernel Felicia has
http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-kern ... 31898.html
In some topics an app called em28xx is mentioned - not in the standard Mint repos for Elyssa
Here is something that seems to work if you cope with french
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-440949.html
Possibly this helps - but it includes compiling the kernel
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions ... page2.html
and in this topic for Intrepid you might find something - it's not primarily about the DVC100 though

Husse, thanks for your help. It sounds promising that the kernel in Mint 6 may just work. When Felicia goes gold I may give it a try.Husse wrote:OK I've found out a few things
