If Ubuntu supports it then Linux Mint should also.
Maybe Ubuntu 8.10 supports it, if so, you will need to wait for Felicia XFCE CE to come out then.

You need to remove quiet splash from the options 1st and then add the extras.
You could try acpi=force or nolapic_timer
