Upgrading Minty Goodness?

Postby garda on Thu Nov 13, 2008 6:36 am

Hello everyone,

Is it possible to upgrade MintInstall to version 5 and MintUpdate to version 3 on Elyssa? If so, then how? I like the latest version of the two Mint applications but don't want to upgrade the whole installation to Felicia just yet. Thank you all in advance.

Cheers.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

In a terminal run

Code: Select all
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Find and Eeit the lines for the Romeo repository so they looks like these (remove the #).

Code: Select all
## +++ Romeo (unstable) +++
deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ elyssa romeo

Save and Close.

Refresh mintupdate and the updates should be there.

If they aren't there straight away run
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update

in a terminal, then try mintUpdate again

Thanks for the guide, Omns. That works. I'm currently refreshing mintInstall while writing this reply. That brings me to another question: how do I transfer mintInstall data from one computer to another? Refreshing it off the internet takes quite a while and I have two more machines to update here at home.

--EDIT--

Nevermind, I've spotted what I was looking for. It's in ~/.linuxmint. I thought it was somewhere in /etc or /usr/share. Thanks again for your help. :)
