Video Card Question

Post by eeezzzeee »

I just bought a new monitor so now I am thinking I need a video card. I was wondering if anyone had a list of video cards that are compatible with linux or ones I should stay away from. I just want to make sure I get one with dvi output that wont give me a headache.
Thanks

Most - but not all - new ATI and nvidia cards work well.
Select one you think is good and google for it + Linux and/or Ubuntu/Hardy/Intrepid/Mint/Elyssa/Felicia :)
It's better to do this way round

I use two 8600 GT Nvidia cards in my box and aside from it taking a bit of effort to get them configured they work fine. I am a relative noobie so it probably took me longer to set them up then it should have. Ignorance is not bliss in this case.
Perhaps if you posted a general hardware description of you system and what you use your computer for the more knowledgeable members of the list can give you a better answer.
Good Luck
