There is a solution for Intel sound (specifically ICH8 but it works with newer ICH)

You switch model=acer to whatever you have or model=auto

It relates to the same sound card that you have in the G50V.

I also read that add this at the end of you ALSA config might help:

To edit your ALSA config, type this:

gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

You might also try upgrading ALSA:
