Nice, i have sound on my system working with version 4, all the sound in mozilla also works exept flash streaming! (Youtube, hyves.nl and music-planet.nl)

I downloaded everything and also changed the configuration.

Hi, I just upgraded to Mint6 today and i have to say that i am loving it. However i am running the os on a verry old dell latitude and im pretty sure my hardware is well behind. I am new user.

When browsing folders containing MP3 files, the mouse moving over an icon will cause sound to start up and play whatever the mouse curser is hovering over. [sound engine is, currently, ALSA.
This process causes conflict either by playing of the media [annoying] or worse.
It has resulted, a few times, in my system halting. I am sure this is just a little thing and I am sure it is The User [me] not doing something correctly. There is a lot going on in this distro, a lot of choices. I am a bit lost sometimes. That is not a complaint. I really like Mint and I know that Mint attempts to work in as many systems and confs as is possible. I appreciate that.

"Nautilus Actions Configuration" is what I found in the pull-up menu....
and I am not sure that is what you refer to. I see some options for altering system sounds, but I have not found an option stating "sample sounds"

Couple weeks back, after a nice few weeks of playing around, I made a change in some MM settings that resulted in a horrible, high volume hissing from my speakers. I could not shut it off until after a cold boot, I could not figure out how to disable it and the Linux on the other partition also, SOMEHOW, began emiting the horrible noise. I am, hehe, a little reluctant to fart around while guessing. I do that too much.

I tried. On fishing through various menus I kept on being fased with an enigmatic little windowed app that appeared, to me, like a file manager.
I kept banging my head and kept seeing that file manager. Then, I thought to myself, I should find out where the executable is. It is at

/usr/share/applications

I thought, YES!!!!!!! SO, I went ahead and executed whatever it might have been that I had found....

So I stopped assuming stuff and just followed the little instructions you had given me. Ooooooh, my poor head. Nautilus IS A FILE MANAGER and all sorts of other things, among them, the things you had explained to me.

I've no problem with gnome version, and VLC, but with the new KDE version I'm testing, DRAGON play all, but VLC only play video without sound for flash and mp4 files.

Also Firefox doesn't play sound of flash videos, but if I download it with download helper dragon does.

I did download multimedia codecs, and it still persists.

there are some bug at any config file, but where?

Only problem I've seen so far is that one time even though I closed the browser window, the music kept playing. I rebooted the computer to make it stop (because I was too lazy to look for the process to kill).

It was actually the first time in a while that I saw this. Seems Linux still has some issues with gracious killing of processes.
