Here is the Linux Mint 6 User Guide, it goes through boot-up and installation and such. I suggest you do a read-through.

Essentially you need to burn the LinuxMint6 ISO, and boot up your computer with the cd in your drive.
Do you know how much space you want to allocate on your hard drive for Linux Mint? You can use the automatic resize option in the installer, or you can also manually create each partition you want to use before and manually select in the installer.
