hi
i installed mint rc6 with an old keybord (wired)

now i connected an usb microsoft wireless keyboard

it works once the mint os is loaded
but at the dual boot screen it does not respond

so i can't load winxp (too bad)

It's due to your BIOS setting, not GRUB nor Mint. So reinstalling either OS won't get rid of this symptom.

Try to find the appropriate setting item in the BIOS and change the value. You'll have to refer to your mainboard's manual to figure out which setting to change, but it's generally called 'USB Legacy Support' or 'USB keyboard support'.
