yahoo messenger

dag allemaal
ik heb wat contacten in zuid-amerika en die werken graag met Yahoo Messenger.

gebruik nu web yahoo, maar mis de webcam soms.

enige tips zijn welkom
voor zover ik weet levert yahoo geen linux-versie.

sometimes it is needed i have yahoo messenger on this machine
as far as i know yahoo is not supporting linux/mint

Solution 1: use Pidgin or Kopete.
Solution 2: run Yahoo Messenger with Wine. Wine is a compatibility layer that lets you run Windows programs in Linux but it does not work 100%.

I see.
I know there is an old version of Yahoo Messenger for Linux and i have found it at http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload/Yahoo-Messenger-Download-2.html
I didn't manage to install it because some dependency is missing. I think it is too old to be used in Mint.

I guess we are stuck with Pidgin for the moment. It seems to be the best solution. In the past months i have tried Kopete, Empathy, Gaim, YM with Wine and a couple of progs i don't remember and for the time being Pidgin is the best among the crowd. I hope that someday Yahoo will understand that it should support Linux.

you are right, found a few items with ymessenger, but despite the fact I downloaded and installed the files it did not work at al.
