Works under windows only I think.

Select the Language under the version for your cpu and click go.
Login with a msn account.(example: user@hotmail.com)
If you can't download just backup the key and look for the iso on torrent sites.

Re: Beta test Windows 7
I have started downloading in Linux Mint, and seems to be working OK.
Re: Beta test Windows 7
Wasn't sure windows came up with an activex plugin and wouldn't let me download it until the plugin was installed.badmotor wrote:I have started downloading in Linux Mint, and seems to be working OK.
Downloading Vista codec pack gives you all the codecs.(realmedia and quicktime too)
Re: Beta test Windows 7
The ISO is 2 Gigs large? Darn... it will take ages to download here.

Hello, Mint Community!
This is Bill Gates, just wanted to know how you like Windows 7 so far
I'm sure you will find that it is the best version of Windows yet and hopefully you will stop using Linux Mint.
Love ya!

Re: Beta test Windows 7
It's not too bad. Definitely better than vista. Boots quick but takes a good 5 min to settle into a 650mb desktop with no sidebar running. 512 mem is all ours now. Less than 40 processes at idle. {them are some big processes} I think you could enable every plugin in compiz and you would still be under 650mb. My vista ultimate with animated backround and sidebar on gobbled up 1100mb. File transfer speed to ext devices is much better now. The worst part about it is no compiz. I miss enhanced zoom or the foolish feeling you get when you try to flip view ports and realize your on windows. Don't laugh, you know you've done it.

Re: Beta test Windows 7
Today I booted into Windows 7 and it showed it only took 49 seconds.(with working desktop)NoClue! wrote:Boots quick but takes a good 5 min to settle into a 650mb desktop with no sidebar running. 512 mem is all ours now. Then I removed all the services I didn't use and got it down to 233MB.(using Classic Theme)
Now With Aero running using 246MB.
Now with Aero and firefox with 3 tabs open.(only 354MB)
With Aero & Kaspersky Internet Security 2009(319MB)

Re: Beta test Windows 7
I'm eventually going to have to snag a copy for gaming, but aside from that it's Mint for everything else. Definitely interested to hear the feedback from all of you.
Re: Beta test Windows 7
Yes, as you can see Windows 7 is very lightweight and superior to Linux Mint in just about every single way.
PLEASE BUY IT

Re: Beta test Windows 7
I understand that Windows 7 has backwards compatibility with the blue screen of death form previous versions of Windows.
Re: Beta test Windows 7
Unfortunately that is not true.exploder wrote:I understand that Windows 7 has backwards compatibility with the blue screen of death form previous versions of Windows.
Windows 7 is incompatible with Vista's blue screen of death
But Windows 7 includes the new MS Blue Screen of Death 7.0, which is far better
It's much more blue and if you're blind, no need to worry.
All you have to do is press the space key, and Microsoft Sam will read aloud the text on the bluescreen for you.
Getting it done just got more fun
And this is just one of the many new features of Windows 7!

If it's anywhere near the price range of Vista I won't be surprised if pirated copies flourish. Keep up the good work Bill!Bill Gates wrote:Yes, as you can see Windows 7 is very lightweight and superior to Linux Mint in just about every single way.

Piracy won't be a problem.lakehousetech wrote: If it's anywhere near the price range of Vista I won't be surprised if pirated copies flourish. Keep up the good work Bill!
Microsoft has complete control of every computer running Windows 7.
If we detect a non-genuine copy, we will make the computer blow up.
We got this idea after watching Live Free or Die Hard

@Merlwiz,
What services did you disable on your installation?
I can't seem to get mine use less than 340-ish MB of RAM.
