Hi, I haven't tried Mint 6-64 yet, currently on Ubuntu 8.10-64, but why does it say on the Mint Download page;
"Note that the Main Edition (which is 32bit) is usually more stable and it also supports 64bit processors."
To which regard are 64-bit editions (in general) more unstable?
(I know that Felicia-64 is not final yet but the above 'warning' is always displayed).
Cheers.

I've been running it since it's release, very stable IMO. They just haven't tested it as thorough as the 32 Bit. In regards to 32 Bit vs 64 Bit, I've been running 64 Bit Linux for a couple of years, I think it's more stable than 32 Bit.

On Real player (rm, rmvb) files the videos are out of sync with the audio. Other formats seems to be fine so far that I've tested.

Also, I get mount errors when trying to mount or access other internal hard drives.

Once the bugs are under control, Mint-64 looks like it will be the Distro others are measured by.

Thank You!

Here's your Challenge,

A Quadcore AMD 9850 Blackbox Edition CPU, Asus M3A32-MVP Deluxe Motherboard, 8 Gbs Corsair Dominator RAM, Two ASUS 3870 X2 ATI videocards (Crossfire), 1200 watt Silverstone Zeus PSU, and a WD 10,000 rpm Raptor Hdd in an Antec 1200 case.

This is a hardcore Vista Ultimate (64-bit) machine with a linux hatin', penguin stompin', screw you Linus attitude.

I, really, regret the Vista thing; but, I got a good deal on the OS and built a machine for it. It sets here, kind of like that "darkside" tree in the Star Wars movie and now I'm trying to save it. :)

So far, no 64-bit linux OS has worked; although, Sidux almost made it. Ubuntu v7.10 (64-bit) installed but kept locking up so much it was useless.

I put my money on ATI, ATI has always been trouble both on Windows and Linux, crappy drivers.
