You're welcome.

The desktop in Fluxbox is treated differently compared to XFCE or Gnome. You can use something like PCManFM to render the desktop and display files from your Desktop folder... but then you will not be able to access the Fluxbox menu with the mouse (right-click on the desktop). If you want to add some static icons to the desktop you can use idesk. You will have to create the config files for the icons manually. This will not affect the Fluxbox menu.

i've used ROX-Filer for making desktop icons and changing desktop banground; it is also low-res consumer

Thank you very much!

running 'man conky' in a terminal will give pretty much all you need to know about configuring conky. It explains everything. For something more graphical search for conky in yelp (help).

@sample: Does ROX-filer still allow you to right click n the desktop and get the fluxbox menu?

I know this thread is old, but I tripped on it in a search for info on changing colors in conky and thought I'd post this in case someone else finds it helpful in the future. You can change colors by editing the .conkyrc file (found in your home directory). Find the line where you want to change the color and simply edit it (using gedit or some other text editor).

Example:

--Let's say you want to change the color of a line of text from "DarkSlateGray" to another color. First find the line you want to edit. It will look something like this: {color DarkSlateGray}
--Delete "DarkSlateGray" and replace it with the hex code of whatever color you want (but leave out the # sign in the hex code). Here's a link to 500 sample colors and their hex codes: http://cloford.com/resources/colours/500col.htm. In my conky output I wanted a color that was close to the color of the Linux Mint logo, so I chose CCFF99. So I replaced "DarkSlateGray" with "CCFF99".
--Save the .conkyrc file, close conky, and then reopen conky. You'll see your new color. Repeat as needed. I found that by using the hex codes I could get much closer to the color I wanted.
