How Do I Apply Patch For Linux Bug #63550?

Post by bitshifter »

There appears to be a bug in the Linux:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/li ... +bug/63550

I suspect there is a solution:

http://www.linuxhq.com/kernel/file/driv ... /thermal.c

How does one apply this fix?

Mint is only using kernel 2.6.17
so a bug in 2.6.20 is no big deal unless you compiled a 2.6.20 kernel for mint or got it from some other repository.
anyway you would have to replace the thermal.c file in your kernel source files and recompile the kernel.

A bit more research on this site says that this issue is also confirmed for 2.6.17. My guess is that it wouldn't be a big deal if this issue didn't make the log files grow so large.
