After a lot of faffing about with Pytube and other esoteric scripts I've discovered that WinFF does the job nicely thank-you.
Now I can put youtube vids on my Nokia 6500.

Yes WinFF is a excellent app. BTW I have already talking about it somewhere in the forum 
For the record, you can make much more than just convert flv to 3gp...
